Little Picket, Ringwood

This was an excellent house with facilities that catered for all ages. We celebrated a 21st, 40th and 70th here and everyone enjoyed themselves. My 6 year old grandson asked if he could have his next birthday at the house!! And to see wild ponies too. Fabulous memories, thank you

Our 3 generation family has just returned from a lovely week at Little Picket. There is so much to do for all ages. We had a couple of issues that were immediately dealt with by Nicholas. We would happily return to this 4 property.

Our feedback totally agrees with Linda's review in July. We stayed 28 July to 1st August. We had further issues and had to contact the owner who came to the property. Hot tub was unusable in present condition, we insisted it was emptied that day and refilled. BBQ was disgusting and not cleaned until 2 days later. The oven did not work for the entire duration of our stay we had to throw away good food that we could not use or take with us when leaving. Place was unloved, shabby, lots of cleanliness issues, no working fruit machine, broken glass in conservatory in garden, tv missing in one bedroom, no live tv, sky or freeview. Full details have been sent to Sykes head office. In our opinion this is not a 45 property possibly 253 we would not recommend this property. Photos are incorrect when showing the condition, they must have been taken some time ago. Property currently on the market, maybe the reason it is unloved and uncared for.

Extremely Disappointing Stay Property in Serious Need of Attention We were genuinely shocked at the state of this property upon arrival. It is in dire need of a deep clean and a thorough clearout. We have numerous photos showing how long it must have been since the house was properly maintained. Cleanliness Issues None of the toilets had been cleaned all had a significant buildup of limescale and mould. Cobwebs were present throughout the house. Kitchen cupboards contained opened food items crisps, sauces that should have been refrigerated, clearly left by previous occupants. The hot tub was filthy, with a visible rim of grime again, we have photographs Rugs were dirty and only some of the floors appeared to have been cleaned. The washing machine emitted a strong, unpleasant smell that filled the upstairs there is clearly a plumbing or drainage issue. Laundry had been left in the tumble dryer. Neglected Communication & Poor Management This trip was to celebrate our Dads 75th birthday. In a property meant to sleep 12, there were only 4 wine glasses. This has been mentioned in a previous review. We attempted to contact the owners via the two phone numbers provided no one answered. We left a polite message, and two days later 8 glasses were left on the doorstep with no call or note. No welcome pack was provided, and there was zero proactive communication from the owners. No recycling or bin instructions for collection, or where to leave. General Neglect The house still contained belongings from previous guests towels, toiletries, clothing, and food. Furthermore, all communal areas were just full of other guests leftover things. A bedroom window had a cracked pane with just tape over it an issue we now know has existed since at least May, as we spotted the property listed for sale in a local estate agents window. It is evident that the property is not being maintained while it is on the market. The Positives Undermined by the Negatives The house itself has great potential. The grounds, patio area, tennis court, and the hot tub had it been cleaned could have made for a fantastic family celebration. The facilities could be excellent with proper management. Final Thoughts For 6000, the experience fell far below expectations. The lack of cleanliness, care, and communication is unacceptable. The condition of the property suggests a lack of interest in guest experience, likely due to its being up for sale. We strongly feel that Sykes should carry out a full inspection of this property to prevent future guests from the same disappointment. Such a shame, as this house could offer something really special but in its current state, it simply does not. Please contact me for photos if required.

Wonderful week spent at Little Picket. We have older childrenyoung adults and they made full use of the facilities as there is so much to do. Close to Ringwood for supplies, few good pubs nearby, easy access to the New Forest and a short drive to great beaches.

Outstanding choice to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Easily accommodated 12 of us including small children, bags of space and free flowing rooms, all absolutely immaculate. The games room was loads of fun, as were lazy breakfasts overlooking the New Forest from the huge kitchen. This is very well equipped. The gardens are beautifully kept, even larger than in the pictures, and opening straight onto the New Forest allowed the children to discover trees, streams and ponies. We had a small accident with the plumbing while we were there, and the owner could not have been more responsive or understanding. Easily the most special place we have stayed and worth every penny.

One of the best places I have ever booked, lovely big kitchen where all 12 of us could enjoy Christmas dinner, the games room was perfect and having a separate living room and snug gave everyone enough space to chill out. The garden and outdoor facilities were kept brilliantly even in the winter which allowed everyone to use the hot tub and tennis court. Having the new forest literally outside the back gate was a massive bonus and we all enjoyed taking a walk and feeding the horses. The hosts were great and did everything they could to make us feel more than welcome and ensure our stay went perfectly Would 100 recommend to others and will definitely be going back myself at some stage

Stayed in November for my 70th birthday. There were 6 adults, a 20 month old baby and small dog and we all had plenty of room. Little Picket met all our expectations in most areas and exceeded them in others. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and very thoughtful. Access was easy using the codes provided. The bedrooms are all to a high standard and comfortable although the plumbing can be a little quirky. The cot and highchair were supplied as promised along with a good quality stairgate. We didn't use the open fires although logs were provided and the central heating kept the house warm throughout our stay. The games room was brilliant, with lots to do and we used the tennis court everyday along with the basketball hoop. We were very grateful to see that the leaves were cleared from the tennis court regularly, a small point but a very thoughtful consideration. We had intended to do more walks but spent a lot more time on the tennis court instead! The kitchen was well equipped although we didn't use the Aga. It would have been helpful to have an instruction booklet for the induction oven but we did work it out eventually. Access was easy and Nicholas was on hand and very prompt in answering any queries we had. Nicholas is an excellent host. There is a lovely walk behind the cottage and we were not far from other walks and Ringwood is only a short drive away. The only minor improvements and they are minor would be a bit more information in the accommodation booklet regarding the oven and where to dispose of the rubbish and an OS map although there were several booklets on recommended walks. A full set of matching wine glasses would be a good addition. The downstairs toilet seat needs repair. We would consider staying here again it is perfect for a multigenerational family and dog.

Beautiful house, wonderful location, 10 of us ladies stayed for three nights, so much to do, we enjoyed the games room, hot tub and swim up pool, the tennis court, trampoline and comfortable surroundings, Some small negatives were no instructions on how to use the oven, but we got there in the end, lack of some essentials which Nickolas sorted quickly for us and the shower sink outlets caused some blockages they hadnt been cleaned for quite a while which was yucky. But overall we had a fab time and would definitely recommend and return to.

Stunning property, in magnificent countryside with amazing facilities. Despite us been hampered by the weather we were easily kept entertained by everything 'Little Picket' had to offer. Would happily stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at Little Picket and were very impressed by the house and facilities. Nicholas was extremely responsive to our very few queries and nothing was too much trouble. The only issue for us was that the spa poolhot tub was not very clean when we arrived. Also one of the toilet lids corner bedroom kept falling down and had to be taped up. But overall, we had a fantastic holiday and would love to come again the tennis court, trampoline, games room and pool were definite highlights for everyone, from 8 to 84 years old!

We really enjoyed our stay at the property. The facilities are fantastic and we had great fun using them. Nicholas was v helpful and prompt with any query we had. The house is also well placed to visit many local attractions that the New Forest has to offer. We were sad to leave and would love to come back again.

Amazing break with friends. House was perfect and Nicholas was a great host. Hamper was a wonderful surprise. We had lots of fun with all the activities especially enjoyed tennis courts. Bedrooms were big, clean and super comfy! Would stay again and recommend!

We had such an amazing time here! The perfect place for people that love activities and sports. We loved playing tennis, cricket and using the chipping area for golf, and then relaxing in the hot tub at the end of the day. The house is really well equipped for big meals. Lots of space in the kitchen and a huge table. The beds were so comfortable and great showers. Great location to get to Bournemouth for the day. Couldnt recommend more!

Little Picket has everything a larger party would need for a fantastic break . Our family all said it was a superb place to holiday . With loads of space to escape if needed, great hot tub and pool, the tennis courts , games room and football nets all well used . The bedrooms are really comfy with top quality linen and towels with modern bathrooms . The icing on the cake is the location right on the new forest and no more than 20 mins from the coast and other major attractions .Nicholas the owner, made us most welcome from the welcome pack on arrival and fresh flowers ,always being on hand if needed . If you are looking for a quality place to stay then you have found it here .

We had a lovely celebratory weekend at Little Picket. Thank you to the host whose welcoming and helpful demeanour made our stay very relaxing. The house and grounds had everything we needed for us and our children and grandchildren. A great time was had by all.

There were a couple of issues during and at the end of our stay but these were communicated directly with the owner Melissa. Overall the property was amazing, myself and my friends had the best time. There was a lovely welcome pack left and Melissa popped in on the first day to check all was ok. Nick also popped in throughout our stay to check everything was ok and they were both very friendly and flexible. The hot tub is amazing, the bar was perfect and the bedrooms stunning. I would love to stay here again. Thank you

Little Pickett totally exceeded our expectations. The hosts we so nice and gave us a welcome hamper with all the essentials. They were super helpful over the weekend and flexible with check in and check out times. They went above and beyond for us. The place itself was beautiful. The hot tube is huge and the beds are super comfy. I would like to book this place for all occasions if it's available.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with friends and family celebrating a 40th birthday. Little Picket is ideally suited just off the A31 with direct access from the back garden onto the forest. The house was perfect. Enough room for everyone, plenty of facilities. Made good use of the tennis courts, table tennis, games room and hot tub spa pool. Plenty to do for all ages. Enjoyed walks in the forest and to the local pub. Melissa and Nick were very helpful. The only slight negative was we were given the wrong code for the key safe and so spent 20minutes trying to get in. Hope to return again in the future.

Virtually everything was perfect. There was plenty to do for us and the grandchildren in the house and the grounds. They loved the hot tub, especially trying to swim against the current. Very well located for either walking in the New Forest or visiting Moors Valley park. The house was comfortable and very warm when we arrived. The only small surprise was we could not find the outside bins to put the rubbish in.

We had a lovely time for 18th birthday family weekend. Lovely owners, who kindly got a bottle of champers as an 18th gift so kind of them. So well stocked and so many things to do for everyone. We wish we were here longer and will definitely recommend it. Hope to come back again one day! Beautiful surroundings and step onto New Forest. Will highly recommend! Little Picket had everything we needed, both inside and out. The number of items we were provided with as a 'welcome pack' exceeded my expectations which was a lovely surprise. The manager was very helpful, and responded to emails very promptly. Also, it was great to know that we did not have to clean the property from top to bottom before we left. My son started planning another visit immediately.

Everything was excellent. The welcome package unexpected and a lovely thought. We loved it. The house is particularly special for multiple families or multiple generations. We went with 3 generations and two families and it was perfect for everyone. Thanks, Suggestion would be to provide a laminate map for walks say 30 mins, 1 hr, 3 hr etc for people.

We had the most wonderful stay at Little Pickets and the Welcome pack was exceptional. The house itself is so comfortable especially for a mixed age group and as we ranged from 10 years to 87 years, everyone loved staying there and found things to do. The pool and hot tub were very popular as was the tennis court, football pitch and massive Sky TV which we watched the Rugby World Cup on, was just the cherry on the top! Breakfast pyjama golf will always now be a happy memory

Had a splendid long weekend aty Little Picket. Brilliant surroundings amazing, amazing, amazing! Welcoming pack much appreciated and enjoyed. How you managed to arrange the Red Arrows to fly past for our celebrations was the icing on the cake. The children loved the hot tub and pool as well as the tennis court. Hope to return sometime again in the future to explore further. We loved our stay at Little Picket we just didnt have enough time there and looking forward to returning and enjoying the house and forest.

What a special place, quiet, relaxing, secluded. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, comfortable house. Nick and Mel are such generous hosts and the welcome pack was so thoughtful. Any issues we had were sorted out straight away. The kids have loved the pool, playing football and the games room. We are so sad to leave this special place. Thank you.

We had the most wonderful stay at Little Picket. The facilities were enough to keep the whole party from 274 yrs entertained. A wonderful weekend away in a gorgeous setting. The pictures do not do the house justice. It really is a gem of a find and is filled with activities for the whole family. Loads of amazing walks with wild horses everywhere. The kids loved the pool which was a perfect size for the little ones. Thank for kindly bringing the disposable BBQs that was a really kind gesture which we appreciated. We will be back!

We endured a shocking weeks weather but the facilities at Little Picket kept the family 12 of us entertained. It is an interesting house with every comfort, the games room was well used and the large garden and tennis court are a real asset. The hot tub and pool adjacent to a covered outside bar are great, particularly in less than good weather. Being able to go directly onto the heathland at the bottom of the garden was handy. The owner Nick responded very quickly to some minor queries and I would certainly recommend the property to other parties of a similar size.
